Overall Rating | Good kit, but with some problems. |
Comments | I purchased this kit at WonderFest '05 because I liked the design. About a month later I dragged out the box and snapped the kit together in about 30 minutes with the intention of redoing it at some point.
Two months later I took the whole thing apart and redid it. I used MM Lt. Gray as the primary hull color, taking care to paint around the roundels on the wings and fuselage. I also added painted details to the cockpit. The red sections were painted with a mixture of MM Insignia Red/Flat Black that I had left over from my Republic Star Destroyer. The insides of the wings and the guns were all painted MM Gunship Gray. The engines were painted MM Euro Dark Gray. I brushed on a coat of DullCote, then added some drybrushed MM Chrome Silver and pastels for weathering. I painted the panel lines with a thin-tip paint marker, and sealed with a final layer of DullCote. I will be submitting photos later for the Reader Gallery. I opted to go for an "empty cockpit" for display at this point. I don't like the lumpy blob of a Kenobi that came with the kit. I might overhaul Obi-Wan later, but I just didn't feel like dealing with him now. Overall the kit is nicely done, with little or no flash. The only real question that has to be answered by a builder is whether you want to leave the prepainted scheme intact, or if you want to repaint the entire kit. |
