October 2022. Mark Webb's 1/72 "Wolfhound" , an original design now available as a kit.
September 2022. Mike Walson's "Ultra Hawk" conversion of the MPC 1/72 "Hawk" from "Space 1999:. He added the booster pack from MPC's Deluxe Edition Eagle kit; scratchbuilt landing gear, hexagon solar panels, and laser turrets; then used a steel wire as a grappling line to attach it to a scratchbuilt nuclear charge.

July 2022. Research/ exploratory vessel Almagest, a scratchbuilt original design by B.P. Taylor and winner of "Best Starship" at the 2022 Wonderfest USA. BP started with a frame of sintra and parts from a robot vacuum cleaner and lots of ABS sheet. No 3D-printed parts were used.
June 2022. Jonathon Marshall's 1/537 USS Enterprise - a "smoothie" from the original issue of the AMT kit. Proof you really can make a silk purse from a sow's ear - with enough gumption. See more of Jonathan's work at his website.

April 2022. "Touchdown on Mars" This is the 1/144 Aries 1B from Stargazer Models built by Steven Jochums.
March 2022. Fast Support and Maintenance Vessel FSMV-1 Dodonna. This is the 1/2500 kitbash that Gerhard Kreutzer entered into the Trek-Wars Contest, a design I really like.
February 2022. Science vessel/training ship SS A. Ekerstedt of the University of New G�tenberg breaks orbit of a large asteroid. This is the 1/1000 SSM conversion from a number of years back.
January 2022 Nathan Kelley says, "My Fine Molds 1:48 scale X-wing was looking a little worn down, so I decided to turn it into Blue Leader's X-wing from Rogue One. There were very few good still shots of the Blue Squadron X-wings when I made this so I took a little liberty with the finer details".

December 2021 This is George Winder's 1/1400 USS Enterprise-D in "Generations" markings, mapping the stellar expanse somewhere deep in the Alpha Quadrant. "I didn't light it but did put extensive time in trying to get it to look good as a static model", he says. "I used the Cartograf Aztec decals from AMT and airbrush misted a light grey blue shade to tone."
November 2021 Based on Andrew Kypreos's 1/32 Viper Mk. 2 from "Battlestar Galactica". "It is the first model I have built in seven years", he says. "I did it in the Atlantia markings for the start of the Cylon war."
October 2021 Based on Dec Sibley's Liberator from "Blake's Seven". It's a 3D printed kit improved by replacing the various antennae with wire.

December 2020 1/288 STS-1 by David Hanners. Based on Alfonso X. Moreno's 1/144 card model with additional scratchbuilding and modifications. (Note: The ETs on the first two shuttle flights were painted white. By STS-3, the paint was deemed an unnecessary added weight, giving rise to the orange tanks we saw for the rest of the program.)

I remember tonnes of these little ships would come pouring out of the space stations if you made even the slightest violation of the law! (though actually firing at the station was an obvious infraction....) The model is pretty small and measures about four inches by three inches (102mm x 76mm).

December 2017 - Revell's A-Wing from Star Wars: The Last Jedi by Christopher Dobinson. Chris modified the kit by covering the landing gear wells, filling in the voids on the undersides of the cannons and adding some styrene to the inside of the missile/torpedo tubes so they are not so deep and now have a rounded inner surface. Then he re-painted the model to reflect the original McQuarrie concept art for ANH, and weathered with washes and drybrushing for the used look.

January 2015 - Starship Modeler Fast Frigate-class Logo Ship. Here's a blast from the past! Way back in 2001, we had a contest to build a physical model based on the silhouette of the ship in our logo (designed by Rob Caswell even further back in the mists of time). This version of the ship was patterned by Scott Spicer, and was released in kit form in late 2002 (and it's long out of production now). This particular build was done by John Lester (me) and took a Silver award at the 2003 Wonderfest.
