Comments | This is my first resin kit. Wilco has done a fine job in recreating the classic lines of this obscure "submarine / spaceship." While I am new to resin kits, the detail is very good. The biggest problem will be the cabin windows. My kit included an injection molded top dome, which was a nice touch. The worst fit problem that I see is the interior "tub." It will require some work to get it to fit right, as it interferes with the hull top. But, right out of the box; it looks darn fine. Damn the removal, build it in!! There are some bubbles and pinholes, but nothing major. This kit will require some work, but it is a fine representation of the ship. Fans of the movie should buy this kit. As of this writing, it is available for $49.99. Not much more than you would pay for a Tiger 2 from Tamiya. Overall - Great kit for the cash. Summary: My kit arrived in a sturdy box, with a color graphic. No parts are illustrated in the instruction sheet. The parts are for the most part very cleanly cast. Clean-up will be primarily in the upper hull section with the windows. The interior is good for the scale. The included figures are poor, but I never use them anyway. For fans of this movie classic, buy it while you can!! |
