Your Two Cents: USS Equinox

Overall Rating       Good kit, but with some problems.
Comments My feelings about this kit were pretty much in line with Erick's. Overall, it's a very well done, one-piece cast. There are some bubbles in the resin, but they're just below the surface. I've only found two spots that definitely need filling. The seam along the primary hull is a little rough and may need filler, too.

The best reference I've found for this subject is Star Trek: The Magazine June 2000. It has CGI profile views of the ship: top, bottom, side, front. It's clear from that reference that a few details are innaccurate, but it's all minor stuff - easily fixed or ignored. It also points out the fact that a couple of markings (those for the underside of the nacelles)are missing from the decal sheet.

By looking at the size of the libeboat hatches, it seems like this model may be a bit smaller than 1/1400. On the other hand, maybe those are 1-2 man lifeboats, where larger ships have lifeboats of larger capacity.

I can't give this kit a solid five star rating, but it's definitely a four-plus job. I got mine through Federation Models and rec'd it 3 working days after I ordered it. That's service!!!
