Scale: 120mm (1/16)

Modern 120mm (1/16) resin figures are actually quite rare, and even rarer are 120mm Sci-Fi figures.

I always wanted to build a 120mm Star Wars Rebel Fighter. I just didn't know how to do this because of the rarity of Star Wars model kit figures in that scale (and I don't mean Action Figures).

Shapeways prints a 1/16 Blastech A295 Blaster Rifle that has no associated figure. I purchased this set complete with associated Star Wars Rebel Gear at the best print quality in the hopes that someday I can find and kitbash an appropriate figure for it. I discovered that the DEF MODELS resin 1/16 WW2 Tanker, Sgt. Joe Gunn, holding the M1 Thompson submachine gun might work in order to display the long Blastech Blaster in its entirety. I cut off the M1 Thompson's front, kept the trigger and the middle, and glued the Blastech around this dissected M1 Thompson. The Shapeways gear was then glued onto the pistol's web belt and the smaller Shapeways Blaster (also in the same print set) was glued onto the hip holster. The scales match very well and my kitbashing gamble paid off!

The figure appears as a Rebel Fighter Commander, complete with confiscated Imperial Empire weapons and a web belt of Rebel radio, binoculars, one-hand Blaster, and other Rebel gadgets. A small ranking emblem of subdued blue and green adorns his T-Shirt chest.

The T-Shirt was airbrushed with Mission Models brown and then handpainted and shaded with Vallejo Acrylics. The rest of the figure was handpainted and shaded with Vallejos.

The base is a 1/16 DML/Dragon Delta Force figure plastic base, spray painted brown, and the Star Wars Rebel Coin was bought from ETSY. I kept the Rebel Commander figure clean and I didn't add any weathering pigments because he is a Commander posing for the photo and not in any blaster fight. I used gloss to add sweat stains to the face, T-Shirt, and arms. The groundwork was created with associated foliage from my spares.
