It was held on October 22, at the Sequoia Conference Center in Buena Park California. It's also the Regional IPMS show. This year attendance was good, but as with most IPMS shows, the majority of entries fell into the military and automobile categories. The turn out for Sci-fi hardware was extremely light, with the second place winner being a bust of alien! This obviously should've been in the Fantasy/SF figures category, but the IPMS judges apparently didn't care. The models ranged from "classic" Trek to Warhammer, with a Buck Rogers Starfighter thrown in for good measure.Winners were: |
#40 sci/fi & fantasy
#41 sci/fi, fantasy & spacecraft While I for one enjoy just about any model show I go to, it's painfully obvious that most judges just don't care about the Fantasy/SF modeler. While we fantasy builders may be in the minority I would hope that the organizers of these shows would spend as much time - and give the same kind of attention to - these categories as cars, tanks and planes (oh my!). (As always, if you know who built one of the following models, drop us a line so we can properly credit them). |
