The Messy Workbench

By John Lester

This is my hobby area, which takes up most of a bedroom we converted into an office. Shown is what's in progress, as of the end of March, 2000.

  1. Revell Space Jet Glador - it's sitting on top of two Starcraft kit boxes, two armor kits, and boxes containing 3 partially assembled airplanes.
  2. The white blob are vacuformed 'petals' for a Vorlon Transport kit, which at the moment hold a bunch of small parts. To the right of it are (front to back) a vinyl 1/6 Iria figure, engines for a B5 Shuttle, a 1/8 female anime figure, and the main hull of Xixor's Virago.
  3. The tan bits are a 1/48 Loire 46 resin airplane. Also on the cloth are bits from a 1/72 XB-35A, Evangelion mecha, Iria's head, 1/32 Crusher Joe robot, 1/35 German motorcycle, and Seaquest Stinger hull.
  4. I think I have most every paint known to man in these racks ...
  5. On the green cutting board is a 1/48 Luftwaffe '46 kit getting panel lines rescribed. Behind and to the right of it are more bits, including an EVA Aliens rifle, which Iria will cary eventually.
  6. Over by the lamp are a Gemini Productions Not-Bender and a 120mm female figure wearing a Napoleonic officer's coat (and little else).
  7. A 1/48 Me-163 prototype sits atop my miter box. To the right of it are boxes for more figures.
  8. Under the airplane ( a 1/48 Fiat G.50) are AoG minis and a collection of small scale figures from anime kits, as well as historical metal miniatures that will one day be part of a chess set.
Not pictured are even more kits - including the USS Yamaguchi from ERTL, which was down in the basement being painted.
