Yeager class USS Phobos (canon scratchbuild 05)

Background

Named after the Greek god of fear and fright, Phobos was built in early 2374 at Newport News Shipbuilding's orbital facilities at Andor, and has a reputation for being extremely lucky. As she slipped off the ways, a WorkBee lost attitude control and slammed into her portside warp pylon. While the occupant of the WorkBee was killed instantly, the launch integrity crew on Phobos was able to bring the nacelle ejector system online immediately to shear the entire portside nacelle/pylon assembly off the hull-a close call, as the nacelle quickly exploded thereafter.

Phobos began running a patrol along the Cardassian DMZ soon after open hostilities between the Federation and combined Cardassian/Dominion forces broke out, and was rapidly assaulted by no less than four Jem'Hadar attack ships at the outbreak. CPT Noe broke for the Federation Defense Perimeter with all hostile vessels in pursuit. Even under heavy fire and with 63% of the main systems offline, she was able to reach Starbase 101 with only two casualties.

A year later, the ship was nearly destroyed during a raid on a key sector post for the Cardassian listening post line near Beta Aurigae when no less than four Keldon-class battlecruisers dropped out of warp in the middle of the raiding party. Three of the seven allied ships were destroyed and two others were crippled. Having taken a direct hit on her starboard nacelle and venting drive plasma, Phobos managed to scurry back to the Defense Perimeter, chased by two of the Keldons. Once the warp core went into auto-shutdown, she was helpless and would have been destroyed had not a Klingon scouting party been nearby. The Klingons quickly dispatched the Cardassian forces and escorted Phobos to Starbase 319. From then to the end of the war, Phobos had been running escort and interdiction ops along the Coreward Front under the auspices of COMALPHQUAD.
