The category is scratch-built, scale is 1/48, the fighter is the RF-128 from Traveller. This fighter was the one that any Traveller player should recognize from The Rebellion Sourcebook, or the Azhanti High Lightning campaign boxed set, or the new GURPS Traveller. A buddy of mine (Bryan Gibson) told me that Rob Caswell & Tom Peters were behind the illustration in the Rebellion Sourcebook. (Your buddy's right - Ed.)

It's constructed from styrene sheet (the wings & rudders), a hard-to-find tapering piece of PVC, the nose of an F-104 Starfighter, and the 'training' canopy from the old Testor's Stealth kit that caused a Congression uproar.
