by Bill Perry
Scale: 1/48
Media: cardstock and model rail road grass
This diorama is based on the painting by Fred Gambino from the book
"Spacewreck" by Stewart Cowley.
The vignette depicts a forgotten fighter and pilot on a grassy hillside on some
alien planet. The original model was designed by Bunnyears, but was a forced
perspective model and had to be heavily modified to make it look right from
all angles. It is made completely out of paper with the exception of the
railroad grass. The scale is roughly 1/48. No paint was used on the model,
all custom parts were colored with markers and the designer used the
original painting for textures.
This was a fun little project reliving a great book in 3D.
