Remember the Ovion race from the original Battlestar Galactica? The
Ovion action-figure was one of the few Battlestar Galactica figures I
could get as a kid, and he served admirably as the requisite "alien"
in my various playtime scenarios. Sometimes a good guy, sometimes a
bad guy, and often misunderstood, my Ovion action-figure was truly an
exotic alien to my kiddie sensibilities.
This Ovion model was going to be my entry into the Mars contest as a
re-imagined Tars Tarkas, but I didn't quite get it done. It's sat
unpainted for yarens. I pieced together the model from a couple of
X-Files Alien statues, a bust bought from Casey Love, and a couple of
small metal letter openers. A few hours of epoxy puttying and
Dremelling and I had my Tars Tarkas, I mean, Ovion Warrior!
The Ovion Warrior was airbrushed with craft-store acrylics thinned
with with Future Floor Polish, Windex and hydrogen dioxide.
