This is a repaint of a Replicas Unlimited’s Cylon Basestar I built a few years ago. It is a first run kit I bought through Federation Models. Of course, it represents the re-imagined Cylon Basestar from the Sci-Fi Channel series where onboard their new Basestar the new Cylons listen to piano music, exercise democracy, and the data stream really is a trickling stream. Personally I love the design and how it points to the original Basestar without copying it.
The kit is simply two identical resin pieces, plus a handsome base. Its’nicely cast, with little in the way of pinholes or flaws. Clean-up and assembly might have taken all of twenty minutes including the two drops of Pacer’s Zap-A-Gap. It finishes up at 7-¼" in length.
I never liked my completed paint job as it was based on the kit directions which were …ummm, un-researched. Thus I've repainted it forthe contest to be closer to the Zoic images that are now everywhere on the net. The paint was Artist’s Acrylics in thin washes with some light dry brushing.
