Since the recent discovery of Rubicun III, Commander Will Riker has been itching to spend as much time there as possible for a little “R&R” (though resting and relaxing were probably not what he really had in mind).
He told the guys at “Custom Craft” ship yard what he needed: “…Something small and really fast”. A single seat shuttle would do just fine since he wouldn’t be taking anyone with him on his little “trips”. Riker requested the basic design to be similar to that of a motor car from the late 20th century that he had always admired, other than that, he left the ships design up to the shop’s designer; a freaky little bald guy with a glassy stare.
This is the result.
I started with a (1984-86) Corvette which I had originally started to use for another project. I used the sides of a ’78 TRANS AM to replace the lower body sections I had previously removed from the Corvette.
I pulled out my original interior attempt due to the need of something more… Trekish. The basic interior “tub”, the tail fin, and the snorkel hood scoop are from the grebblie box. The seat back was sculpted from the blessed Aves, which I also used to finish in the wheel openings. I also added some Aves to the back end so that the center of gravity would be centered over the nacelle mounts.
Everything else (ouvers, dash and control panel, the weld under the hood scoop, nacelles, and canopy frame) is scratch built from styrene stock with a “heat and smash” canopy glass.
