Scale: Not stated
Ron Gable is a fan of historic ships and designer jackets. One day, the
idea of a spaceship with the shape of the Cutty Sark was creeping in his
mind. After the successful building of the ship by a company of his home
planet, the ambitious pilot decided to call the new "horse" in his
interstellar flight fleet "Cutty Spark". As it's different from the other
ships, the Cutty Spark ought to be a real attraction and Ron was quite
pleased with the result. Someone supposed to hear him saying: "Yeah!
She's really sparkling!"
That's the story so far. Now something about how I built the Cutty Spark.
The hull consists of a plywood scaffold and nailed planks on the outside.
It is from a kit. Further parts were several caps from bottles and pencils,
rims of a RC car, a defective accu-charger, stuff from toys as missiles and
a robot body. Lastly, I used plastic and carton sheet and 5mm plywood.
For the constructions on deck, I used a green metallic enamel color, a
gold/bronze mixture of enamel and acrylics like aluminum, carmine red and
dark red. For the hull, I used acrylics too.
I installed the engines on a mast to keep the look of a sailboat a little
bit. Right behind the mast is the anti-gravitation unit for movement in
atmosphere.
The ornaments and the "Interstellar Flight Fleet" - logo were painted by
freehand and everything was painted with a brush.
The figure of Ron was once a James Bond figure which I modified. I think
the original figure was quite ugly.
