Hellishly cute eldritch horrors! Gotta catch you all!
Pokethulhu was released by Steve Jackson Games miniatures division
shortly before it was shut down. The game is basically a cross between
HP Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos and the Japanese show Pokemon. Each of the
little 'thulhus lived in a sacred dodecahedron until summoned by the
trainer to do battle. The miniatures consisted of the main character,
Pikachew, four other little 'thulhus, and their trainer. Pikachew came
as both a small version and a large version. This is the large version.
It consisted of 4 somewhat poorly cast metal pieces. A lot of putty and
filing was required to get everything to line up, and I'm still not
happy with the ears. Someday I might redo them. I worked on it during my
lunch hour at work. Imagine the stares I got chanting "Ia! Ia! Pikachew!
Pikachew! Ftagn! Ftagn" while waiting for the putty to dry. He's a
little worse the wear for being on my shelf at work, but he makes a
great conversation piece for people stopping by my cube.
